Why makers choose Truemade

A marketplace built around proving the work is yours.

Verified makers only

Every shop is approved by a real person. Buyers see the Verified maker badge on everything you sell.

No AI or dropshipping

We remove resold, factory-made and AI-generated listings, so you compete with craftspeople — not catalogues.

Show how it's made

Add process photos and video to listings. Shoppers see the hours behind the piece — and the price makes sense.

Custom requests

Shoppers post what they want made. You quote with your price and timeline, and win commissions.

Sales tax handled

Truemade collects and remits sales tax as the marketplace facilitator. It never touches your payout.

People, not bots

Message the Truemade team any time from your dashboard — with photos or video — and get a human answer.

Simple, fair pricing

You keep more as you grow.

Sliding commission

Charged on the item price only — never on shipping or sales tax. Your rate drops as your sales for the month go up.

How verification works

Four steps, one real person.

  1. 1

    Tell us about your craft

Your shop name, what you make, how you make it, and the materials you use.

  2. 2

    Show us the making

Photos of finished pieces plus work-in-progress shots, your workspace, or a short video of your hands at work.

  3. 3

    A real person reviews it

Someone from the Truemade team checks every application — usually within 48 hours. We may message you for more.

  4. 4

    Open your shop

Once approved, list your work. Your first 5 listings get a quick human check too.

Questions makers ask

What counts as handmade?

You (or a small team you tell us about) make the piece yourself. Hand tools and machines are fine — kilns, lathes, sewing machines, laser cutters for your own designs. Reselling, dropshipping, factory production and AI-generated designs are not.

Why do you ask for process photos and video?

It's what makes Truemade different. Shoppers trust that every maker here was checked by a person, and "How it's made" media on your listings helps them see the work behind the price.

What does it cost?

No listing fees and no monthly fee unless you choose the optional Best Account. Commission is charged on the item price only — never on shipping or sales tax — and gets lower as your monthly sales grow. Card processing is shown as its own line on each order.

Who handles sales tax?

Truemade does. As the marketplace facilitator we collect sales tax from buyers and send it to each state, so you never have to file it for Truemade sales.

When do I get paid?

Payouts go to your bank through Stripe after the buyer receives the order, plus a short hold. You see every deduction on every order before you ship.

Do I have to buy shipping labels through Truemade?

No. You can use your own label and add the tracking number. Built-in USPS, UPS and FedEx labels come with the Best Account.
